Bad experience

Hauler called to inform that horse somehow triggered divider to unlock and pinned horse's head in trailer. Horse went down with numerous injuries.

Horse arrived very injured and traumatized. Trailer is very unsafe for horses and my poor horse payed a heavy price. Still unsure whether horse will be sound and okay for riding. I will never use this hauler again and strongly advise against dealing with this business in the future.

Please beware that this owner of business is not licensed or bonded and is very crooked. Do not trust this company to haul horses for you as the outcome could be very bad. They also insist on cash on delivery and half up front.

Do yourself a favor and do not trust this hauler. Avoid at all costs!!!

Lied to me

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought a new horse shipped from Ohio to Arkansas. Seller texted Danny to let him know I would be out of town til Saturday and could he deliver then instead of Thursday or Friday Danny replied yes in text he could deliver on Saturday Driver picks up horse on Wednesday but says he will keep horse overnight at places.

Called Danny for time of delivery on Saturday, he says horse to b delivered sometime Thursday!!. Told him seller told him I wouldnt b here til Saturday. Danny said no one ever told me that first I have heard of it. I sent him text from seller to him and he replied rudely that he texted that for different horse.

He lied! tried calling driver about 8 times so I could have someone to meet him at barn since I had to deliver 3 horses Thursday to Fayetteville and would not be there! Finally got text from driver, said 4 hours out at 7 am. I waited til 11:30 am for driver but had to leave.

Driver didnt show til 2:30. Where the *** did he go for 7 hours! Pulled up in open trailer with piece of plywood to block block the wind on one side onlyso shabby. Sub par to say the least.

Horse was bedraggled and exhausted looking. I dont think they ever took horse out of trailer the whole time for 2 days and it is 30 degrees outside with open trailer.

Hes going to kill a horse with this kind of treatment. Terrible dont EVER deal with this liar

Wish to add that the driver didn’t even have a bucket to water the horses. Borrowed one from me.

Indicates my horse might not have any water during the trip. Deplorable

Do not wire money

Update - A friend of a friend of mine, who is a horse broker and does a lot of business with Gilder Horse Transport, negotiated a full refund for me. Also I had filed a complaint with the Missouri State Attorney Consumer Affairs. It appears the combination did the...

Original review Dec 23, 2019
On 7/18/2019, I contacted Dannie Gilder Horse Transport to ship my new horse from Michigan to Maryland. He provided a quote for cost and schedule and I booked his services that required me to wire money to his account.

After receiving payment, Dannie Gilder Horse Transport was slow to respond to communications, including calls, text, or Emails. The quoted dates for transport passed and I asked to cancel the service and receive a refund. Although Dannie Gilder Horse Transport agreed to the refund, I did not receive one.
I submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they contacted Dannie Gilder Horse Transport. However, Dannie Gilder Horse Transport did not respond to the Better Business Bureau and his rating was reduced from A+ to C+.
I submitted complaints with Missouri (where the company is located) and the Maryland State Attorneys Consumer Protection agencies.

Both states tried to contact Dannie Gilder Horse Transport to resolve my complaint, but Dannie Gilder Horse Transport did not respond to their requests. Unfortunately, Consumer Protection agencies have no enforcement.
I could file in small claims court, but even if I win a judgement, the court offers no enforcement. The travel cost to Missouri to file a claim would likely cost as much as my refund.
A friend of a friend that had many successful transactions recommended Dannie Gilder Horse Transport. I was not too worried about wiring money.

Just because a company worked for someone, is no guarantee that it will work well for you. And once you wire someone money, the money is gone and there are no consumer protections.

Damaged my two geldings

Dannie Gilder Horse Transportation - Damaged my two geldings
Danny’s driver Craig picked up 3 of my geldings going to a ranch in Sheridan Wy. When they arrived two of the geldings had hugh rubbed sores on the butt area and bite marks on the their neck. I have pics if this. The horses won’t be marketable for months to come even or not at all time will tell. Danny has hauled for me in the past and did a good job but these horses are damaged and he won’t offer any help. I checked on his DOT numbers and he has no insurance so he is hauling illegally. Beware of this hauler!!

Dannie Glider won't refund my $800

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

DO NOT USE THIS TRANSPORT! Danie Glider is a fraud.

I paid him $800 last week to transport my filly to me. He told me to wire him the money and that he would pick up on Monday or Tuesday. He did not honor his word. He did not even call or text neither the seller nor I.

We had to try and contact him multiple times. He finally responded and said that pickup would be Friday. I reached out to him multiple times on Thursday and he finally responded saying that the filly would be picked up in the evening and would be dropped off at an undisclosed location and he didn't know when she would be shipped to me. My husband told him no and that was not what we originally agreed upon.

We then proceeded to asked for our $800 to be refunded and he now has become elusive and won't respond to my calls or text messages. He did not follow through on our original agreement so therefore it was my right to cancel out and then I found this site. It appears that Dannie Glider is not planning on refunding my money from what I have read here. Please help this man be stopped!

He is a criminal.

He is a coward and a thief and is not to be trusted! DO NOT USE DANNIE GLIDER OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!

Things are changing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
As of May 2019 I have taken over stables and am in charge of all drivers. I make sure the trailers are stocked with hay, water buckets and getting water tanks on all trucks now. The previous display of lack in caring for the horses we haul is coming to a halt. I dont tolerate it and they know that. I know this is a process of earning trust back from previously disappointed customers, but its an effort i am willing to make. If one chooses to do business with us again, i can guarantee your horses will be properly cared for. If again you choose to do business with Dannie. Please make sure to ask for my, Kellie, number right from the start. I will keep you updated on when delivery will be, lication of horses and will do my best to fix any problems that may occur. Again, i am sorry for previous experiences i had no control of. Things are changing.

The comment posted May 2019 couldn't be further from the truth! We contracted Dannie Gilder to ship to two horses from Gilder's business location in Missouri to Morgan Hill, CA.

in June 2019 Money up front, cashier's check only ($2000). NO COMMUNICATION AFTER, until the night before the horses arrived. Several weeks went by without one word from Gilder? Horses show up early am in late June 2019.

Both horses were emaciated! At least 150 lbs gone on each. Hip bones showing and ribs clearly visible. Both horses seems unstable and very unhealthy!

We incurred over $1000 in vet bills within the first 48 hrs after their arrival. Gilding coliced, Pregnant mare had an infection brought on by stress and she's pregnant! Awful to treat horses this way! After their arrival, attempts to call Dannie went unanswered, multiple calls made.

He is apparently moving horses all over the US?? NEVER EVER USE DANNIE GILDER TRANSPORTATION

Horrible, unprofessional, sketchy as heck.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Dannie Gilder Horse Transportation - Horrible, unprofessional, sketchy as heck.

Traded one horse for another and the other party arranged Dannie for the transport.

Unprofessional from the very start, over 9 days late picking up the first horse.

When they arrived, the trailer was horrendous and literally had a broken floor support near the rear. None of the horses had hay and the drivers were, less than friendly and MUCH less than professional. For lack of a better term- they appeared not much better than homeless and dirty with holes in their shirts and extremely dirty pants.... (we are a blue collar, asphalt laying, pipeline family- I know dirty.. this was unhygienic not hard working kind of dirty)....

Against my better judgement I put the horse I had traded for on the trailer. The horse was shipped from east Texas Tom South Carolina and arrived in roughly 24 hours. No complaints about that time line- however, the new owner stated the horse appeared dehydrated and underweight/sucked in- he was in very good condition when he left my home.

As soon as the first was unloaded the horse I traded for was picked up. Was told she would be delivered within 24 hours. 24 hours came and I messed Dannie asking for an ETA. He told me it would be a few hours and he would message me when his drivers were close.... 6 hours passedand it’s Saturday evening now- and I messaged him again.... This time he said “won’t be today”....

When I inquired for more information he responded with... “not gonna be today or tomorrow, probably not Monday either”.... I inquired where they were - his response was “horse is fine.”

After going back and fourth with the person who arranged this transporter- I found out that HE knew that the mare had been taken directly from his home in South Carolina to Dannie’s HOUSE in Missouri.

So I ask Dannie if my horse was being hauled or was at his house. His response... “my barn” followed by “she fine”

I requested the address... his response was again- “horse is fine”

When I requested to know what he was feeding her .... he said “we know how to care for one, she fine...”

After hours of back and fourth I was able to get an address and I drove from east Texas to Missouri myself to personally speak to Dannie and get my horse afternoon multiple attempts to have him meet me or deliver her by Monday. He claimed his truck was in the shop- when I arrived at his place there we 3 truck with trailers attached.

During my drive there- he informed me when I was an hour out that he wouldn’t be there, and the 3 big black dogs “should” be fine and “shouldn’t” bite.... He refused to meet me to get the mare loaded, wouldn’t answer or return my call when I arrived, and had the mares papers crumbled in a ball and tied to the stall. She had no hay or water.

He told me earlier in the day that he would cover my fuel cost as “he didn’t know I would be in a rush to get the horse or he wouldn’t have picked her up.....” because... “he had stuff going on”

Clearly he had no intentions of doing so as he couldn’t even be there when I arrived.

The entire experience was insane and I’ve never dealt with a transporter like this, and hope I never do.

Do NOT use Dannie Gilder- you will regret it.

Photo attached is of the mare I traded for- sale ad photo top left, right before she got on the trailer Friday and what she looked like Sunday afternoon before I got there.

She had several minor bumps and scrapes/cuts from her hock to her knees and head... all minor- but just showcasing the lack of driver care/knowledge while hauling horses.

Dannie’s barn was clean, but horse had no hay or water. Other horses did- just not mine. Ridiculous really.

The guy that arranged this hauler says he uses him often and he is never prompt- but handy had an issue like this. He also gave me $200 back for my fuel. Who knows....

Save yourself the headache and just don’t use Dannie...

Neglected Equine Transportion Services

Was referred to this equine transportation company from a woman in Louisiana. Unbelievable! 2 weeks late, stopped only 2x from Louisiana to oregon. Trailer was in such poor condition with fender extended away from trailer, broken metal, etc. Horse was thinner then I have ever seen. Pathetic that they had to ask for a lead rope. Saw no water, hay, bedding was filthy.

I bought a horse which was picked up and remained on the trailer for 20 hours straight without being given any food or hay for 20 hours (picked up In Ohio andndelivered to Mississippi 9 hours away). Horse has been dealing with impaction colic and likely stomach ulcers. I have spent nearly $300 on treating this horse and he is unethical!

HORRIBLE SERVICE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Dannie Gilder Horse Transportation - HORRIBLE SERVICE

I used them as well... and let me tell you that it was my worst nightmare...

I have two thoroughbreds one is 20 and the other 21... my mare is a little underweight due to having a foal and she wasn’t getting enough food. I had told them that my mare is a huge stress ball while trailering and for them to keep in contact with me, and my other horse is my show gelding... they had arrived in Brentwood California at around 12pm in the afternoon...

and they said that they will arrive in golden valley Arizona at around 1am! During the entire time I had absolutely no contact no nothing! I had given them the number to the owner of the boarding facility that they were going to, never contacted them whatsoever, also gave them the number to the last owner boarder and NEVER contacted them as well! So I had been trying my hardest to contact them.....

and my mother as well! So I figured they were just trying to drive there to get the horses to their destination on time. So I thought.... So the next day, early in the morning.

I checked my phone, and saw a text from them at 1030 pm asking the address to the destination (even though I already gave him it in the beginning) and I had replied to them asking if the horses are alright and if they made to the destination safely, he had told me yes they were safe but didn’t arrive to the destination.... so I was getting calls left and right about the horses and I had no idea when they were arriving. The gentleman contacted me saying he would be there in 15 min, so I had told my mother to be there, then I got another call from the guy, saying that he had gotten into a crash, and he admitted that the horses were FINE! Turns out that my two horses were in the front of the trailer and my mare got the brunt of the accident and my gelding has gotten a gash above his eye!

My mare injured her leg and could not walk, they were terrified of the trailer. My mare had to be taken to the vet had 5 X-rays done, and vet told us (thank god) that her leg was not broken and everything was in place perfectly, but does not excuse the fact that she still got injured ! Under their care! He also had a $12,000 Arabian STUD !

On the trailer and a $25,000 roping mare right next to him! Majority of the horses on that trailer were mares! I was not happy about this at all! I almost lost my horses, he never delivered them on time and he got into a reck!

Also his boss knew the guys truck breaks were no good as well as the trailers breaks as well! I too will NEVER EVER recommend them to anyone. They had no water no nothing.

Trailer was filthy. To this day my horses are still terrified of the trailers, and my mares leg is still extremely swollen !

Nightmare

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My horse left Minnesota on May 22, 2018. Before he left, he had a bath, his tail braided, was in good weight. Two days earlier, he got his hooves trimmed and a new set of shoes on. He finally arrived in Washington state June 3rd at 10:30pm. Dannie Glider never was able to tell me where my horse was, just that he was being well cared for and being fed and watered regularly.

This evening I was in shock at his condtion. He has a horendous eye injury, and it did not happen today. My horse was injured while in the care of Dannie Glider horse transport and no one ever informed me about it. My horse also arrived missing a back shoe, again with no explantion from the driver.

He was also very hungry when he got off the truck. The trailer was full of horse *** obvously not cleaned for many many miles. I wonder how often my poor horse actually got fed and watered and off the truck in almost 2 weeks and how no one at Dannie Glider Horse transport can tell me how my horse got injured.

I'm at a loss I am just so sad about my horse and I wonder also about the other horses that were in there. This is what Dannie Glider Horse Transport did to my horse, abuse and cruelty.

And my horse is a good boy, he trailers well and likes other horses and animals, great for the farrier, so I don't know how this company can be so cruel, they obviously don't like animals.

Dannie Gilder is a crook

I paid Danny Gilder $700 to pick up a mule from Kentucky and transport it to Texas. Before I paid him he said he would pick the mule up by the end of the week. Once I paid him by PayPal, he said it would be 3 weeks. I asked him for a refund because he did not transport for me and he will not give me my money back.. this man needs to be stopped..

Danny Gilder insisted I pay him in full via wire transfer to ship my horse to Oregon from Missouri. I haven't shipped many horses before but thought this did not sound correct, however, because he told me his truck was leaving on the Saturday (the next day) and he would not transport without payment in full I agreed to wire him the monies.

The pick up date for my horse's transport has passed and no word from Mr. Gilder. The seller texted him and received no reply, I have also emailed and called him without receiving a response. Now after having read all the negative and extremely concerning reviews on his operation I would not dream of using his company to transport my horse.

I want my shipping fee back. He did not perform per the the agreement and apparently thinks its okay to steal money from people under false pretentious. Why is this man still in business?

Has anyone ever sued him before? Would appreciate hearing from anyone who can help me get some kind of action going against this crook.

I paid him through PayPal and I kept calling PayPal until I finally got ahold of someone that understood what was happening. He insisted I pay through friends and family to get around fees and I told PayPal that.

Finally PayPal refunded every penny... I still haven't heard a word from that thief....

NINE days and a stolen bag of feed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I gave Dannie every opportunity to make good on the horrible experience I had with his "company", to no avail. My filly was supposed to be shipped from Oregon to Wisconsin and I was told both by the seller and Dannie himself that the trip should take no more than 3-4 days. It took NINE days for the filly to get from OR to WI. NINE. Filly arrived at my friend's farm noticeably underweight and my friend had to argue with the driver over the filly's blanket (driver claimed it belonged to another horse) and said there was no feed on the truck for the filly, despite the fact that the seller had most definitely given a bag of Purina Ultium to the driver when the filly left OR. While the filly was on the road, communication was non-existent. Emails and phone calls went unanswered. I politely asked for a refund of $30 to pay for the stolen/misplaced bag of grain, both via text and via email after the filly had arrived, and nothing. No apology, no acknowledgement of the mishap, no refund, nothing. Very disappointed and would not recommend anyone do business with this company. Perhaps Dannie Gilder was once an honest shipper, but that is no longer the case, perhaps due to his choices in hired drivers.
